The Bristol FLF was a forward-entrance, crew-operated Lodekka with a flat floor throughout. In its normal format it seated 70 passengers - 38 upstairs and the remainder in the lower saloon.
The first FLF appeared (appropriately enough) in the Bristol Omnibus fleet as L8540 in 1959 with sliding doors. It was later modified with standard jack-knife doors, and renumbered LC7000 with fleet numbers rising eventually to 7321.
Production of the FLF continued until the late Sixties. All the vehicles were bodied by Eastern CoachWorks (ECW) of Lowestoft. All were flat-floor vehicles, unlike the earlier LD range of Lodekka which had a step up to the seats.
There were three chassis configurations - the FLF6B (Bristol six-cylinder engine), the FLF6G (its Gardner equivalent) and later the FLF6L (a Leyland-engined configuration).
The vehicles were normally built with manual gearboxes, but towards the end of production they were produced as 76- or 78-seaters, and with semi-automatic gearboxes.
The FLF was the most successful marque after the Bristol K type - until it was supeceded by the VRT (and later the Olympian).
